Moot Court, Mock Trial and new candidates of Florida Coastal Law Review

Please join me in congratulating two of our moot court teams on doing exceptionally well at the Charleston National Constitutional Law Moot Court Competition. The team of Lance Davies and Michael Hopkins (brief writers/oralists) advanced to the championship round of the competition. Hali Herbert and Michael Stack (brief writers/oralists) reached the quarter-finals. In addition, Michael Stack received the Best Advocate Award for the entire competition. Alyssa Yarbrough served as the Team Manager for both teams. Professor Nick Martino coached the teams.

The Mock Trial team competed this weekend in the Texas Young Lawyer’s Association’s National Trial Competition. This is the biggest and most prestigious of all the mock trial competitions with over 200 schools participating nationwide. Our region is considered one of the toughest regions in the country with 24 teams competing this year. Coastal outpaced Stetson, Alabama and Barry to become semi-finalists. Congratulations to the Coastal NTC semi-finalists, all of whom are 2Ls,: Ashley Townsend, Sharmila Bhagwandeen and Jon Gless, witness and team manager Garth Cheek. The coaches are Florida Coastal graduates Jo-Anne Yau, John Leombruno and Heath Vickers.

I am pleased to introduce the new candidates of the Florida Coastal Law Review:

  • Austin B. Calhoun
  • Danielle L. Meyer
  • John P. Czoschke
  • Maggie E. Harris
  • Todd Newsom

Congratulations to all.
