The annual Minority Mentoring Picnic will take place on Saturday, November 1, 2014 in Hialeah, Florida. It is a great opportunity for students to meet judges, lawyers, and law school administrators from around the state.

The Career Services Department will now be known as the Center for Professional Development or CPD. This is in line with the other consortium schools and better reflects the comprehensive nature of the work handled by our department at Coastal. The CPD prepares students for the world of legal work throughout the student’s academic career and beyond.
The Southeastern Intellectual Property Job Fair (SIPJF) is an initiative founded by the Intellectual Property Advisory Board, which is an alumni group associated with the Georgia State University College of Law. The fair is managed and executed by the Georgia State University College of Law Career Services Office. Many members of the Founders group are very active in Atlanta’s IP community, working in the city’s most well known companies and firms. SIPJF has been made possible by a joint effort of student volunteers, alumni, and the Georgia State University College of Law Career Services Office.
SIPJF mainly targets fulfilling summer associate positions for 2015. Consequently, participation is open to full-time and part-time students (from registered schools) who are classified as rising 2L or rising 3L students, who will return for classes for the Fall 2014 semester.

DeKalb Lawyers Association presents their 26th Annual Scholarship Essay Contest!
The 2014 Essay Top is: “From Opposition to Opportunity: How a Legacy of Leadership is Built During Times of Crisis”
Eligibility: Entrant must be enrolled in law school. Contest winners must be available to attend the Annual Scholarship Breakfast, to be held at 9 am on may 17, 2014, at the Lou Walker Senior Center, Lithonia, Georgia.
Entries Shall Include:
Cover Page – Entrant’s name, mailing address, phone number and e-mail address
Typewritten essay of no less than 1, 200 words, not to exceed 1,500 words in length (full and originally addressing the topic)
- Bio of entrant, not to exceed one page double-spaced
- JPEG or PDF file containing picture of entrant
All applications and essays must be received no later than 5:00 PM on Friday, May 2, 2014. Applications and attachments are to be submitted in PDF format via e-mail to: DLAScholarshipContest@gmail.com.
The essay contest winner will receive the $1,000 Donald E. Hollowell Legacy Award. Two additional entrants will be awarded a $500 book stipend.
