Phase 2 Externships – Now Open on Symplicity!

Students:

The applications for Spring 2015 Externships with Public Interest organizations, Government Externshipsentities, Environmental placements, State Attorney’s Offices, and Public Defender’s Offices are now available under the “Jobs” tab in Symplicity!  Each listing includes the requirements and required application materials. (Please note that the application requirements and pre-requisites are set by the supervising attorney or clinical supervisor).  The deadline to apply to Phase 2 placements is Friday, October 3rd.

Remember, you can only view job postings and OCI opportunities that are open to your class year, so make sure to update your Symplicity profile to reflect your correct class year.

Externship Information Sessions

Mark Your CalendarWe will be holding 2 externship informational sessions for all students interested in learning about externship opportunities and the application process. If you haven’t participated in an externship before, we highly suggest you attend one of the meetings.

The sessions will be offered twice but you only need to attend one!

Wednesday, September 3 at 12:00 p.m. in Room 405

Monday, September 8 at 2:00 p.m. in Room 555

The externship application period for spring 2015 will take place during September. The open and close dates will be announced soon.

We understand you have limited time to work on your Externship/Clinic Applications and that’s why CAREER SERVICES IS HERE TO HELP!!!Information

We welcome 2Ls and 3Ls to DROP IN to the Career Services Office, Room 180, on the following days in January between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. for help completing your Summer 2014 Externship Applications and have a snack while we work!   We can assist you with OCI applications too!

New Spring Externship Opportunity with Second Harvest!

The mission of Second Harvest North Florida is to distribute food and grocery products to hungry people and to educate the public about the causes and possible solutions to problems of domestic hunger.                           

APPLICATION MATERIALS:  Resume; Unofficial Transcript; Writing Sample; Experiential Learning Agreement Form (can be found on Symplicity’s document library)

REQUIREMENTS:  Interest in logistics, transportation, and food; 2L or 3L students       

DUTIES:  The anticipated work of the selected extern is to be involved in operational aspects of the organization. Students will assist with regulatory and compliance matters, review and analyze contracts, draft memorandums, assist with warehouse logistics, transportation, and operational management. Issues may include food safety and the recall process.

Spring credit-bearing Externship opportunities with corporations, public interest employers and government entities are now available for a limited time! A few examples of unique Spring Externshipsexternship opportunities available for 2Ls and 3Ls with a low number of applicants thus far include:

Spring 2013 Externship & Clinic Application Changes

The application process for Externships and Clinics is changing!  Beginning with Spring 2014 positions, externships and clinics will be sorted into two phases.  Phase 1 will include Judges & Courts, Florida Coastal Clinics and the U.S. Attorney’s Offices. Phase 2 will include Corporations, Public Interest Employers and Government Entities. Specific information is below.

How to apply

Each clinic and externship opportunity is posted with an individual description on Symplicity (https://law-fcsl-csm.symplicity.com/students). Each listing will include the requirements and required application material. (Please note that the application requirements and pre-requisites are set by the supervising attorney or clinical supervisor).  You can obtain a copy of each of the Phase I externship descriptions in the CSD office or on the Symplicity Document Library. You need to have a resume uploaded on Symplicity in order to view the postings. You will only be able to view the posting that are open to your class year, so make sure to update your Symplicity profile to reflect your correct class year.

Stop by the CSD to pick up a copy of the Symplicity Training Manual. The manual includes detailed instructions on how to log into Symplicity, upload documents and find postings. In order to make the process as smooth and efficient as possible, strict deadlines have been set. It is very likely that late applications will not be placed. Make sure that you meet the deadlines below for the experiential learning opportunities that interest you.
