We invite you to join us to interview returning Fall 2012 law students and lawyers with disabilities from law schools across the country! Employers will be able to prescreen all applicant materials via an email link sent by the IMPACT coordinators.

- Wednesday, July 28 from 6-8 p.m.: Tallahassee Alumni Chapter Summer Send Off at Level 8 Lounge at Hotel Duval.
The purpose of this event is to bring together legal employers and rising second-year law students (with an expected graduation date of May 2015) who contribute to the diversity of the legal profession and are interested in practicing law in the Washington, DC metropolitan area. This will be a great opportunity for employers and students to network before the start of the fall recruitment season. Employers who are not a member of WALRAA are welcome to register.

|Latham & Watkins is once again pleased to announce the Latham Diversity Scholars Program, which will award a $10,000 non-renewable scholarship to each of six second-year law students. Factors considered in choosing the Latham Diversity Scholars will include a candidate’s:
Students will be asked to submit an application form, personal statement, resume and official or unofficial law school transcript by September 3, 2013. Recipients will be announced in early 2014.
This scholarship is not contingent upon receiving or accepting an offer of employment at Latham. Rather, it is open to all law students in the hope that greater diversity among the attorneys at large law firms will benefit the entire profession. The Latham Diversity Scholars Program, among other outreach efforts by Latham’s Diversity Hiring Subcommittee, enhances Latham’s efforts to recruit and hire diverse summer clerks and attorneys.

The 9th Annual Heartland Diversity Legal Job Fair (HDLJF) will be held August 9-10, 2013, in Kansas City, Missouri. Students who are interested in becoming part of Kansas City’s dynamic legal community should strongly consider attending this event. Students who will be returning to school in August and those graduating in May are eligible to attend the job fair, as employers will be interviewing for both summer and post-graduate positions.
The HDLJF is the result of Kansas City’s leading law firms, legal associations, and corporate legal departments coming together to encourage law students to practice law in Kansas City. The HDLJF is designed to expose law students of diverse backgrounds to both traditional and non-traditional legal employers. In addition, the event is a great way to learn more about living in this wonderful city.
The HDLJF will be held at the Crowne Plaza Hotel. It will kick off with an evening Welcome Reception on Friday, August 9th at the Kansas City Metropolitan Bar Association. The Saturday schedule includes a continental breakfast, interviewing from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., and a luncheon at which participants will be greeted and addressed by a special Keynote Speaker.
Please register as soon as possible. Students who register before May 24th will be entered into a drawing for exciting prizes. The final deadline for registering is June 22, 2013.

Baker, Donelson, Bearman, Caldwell & Berkowitz, PC will soon launch their Baker Donelson Diversity Scholarship Program. This program was established in 2009 as a part of the Firm’s ongoing efforts to increase diversity both at our Firm and in the legal profession as a whole. The Firm will offer three scholarships in the amount of $10,000 each to diverse law students who have excelled academically and who plan to contribute to the diversity objectives of Baker Donelson. Recipients will also be awarded a salaried 2L Summer Associate position in one of our offices.
To qualify for the scholarship, the candidates must: (1) have completed their first year of law school, (2) be a member of a group traditionally under-represented at large law firms; and (3) attend an ABA accredited Law School. Candidates may not be the recipient of a similar scholarship award from another law firm. Joint degree candidates must have successfully completed two years of a JD program.
Application Process and Deadline
Applications are due by midnight, Friday, June 21, 2013. Once applications are being accepted, interested students may submit their application online and attach the below listed documents. A link to the application will be made available to your Career Services Office in just a few weeks.

- One written professional recommendation
