US Citizenship and Immigration Services Open House
The U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services Office of Homeland Security is having an open house at its Jacksonville Field Office on Tuesday, March 26, 2013 from 5 – 7 pm. The open house will provide an opportunity to meet Jacksonville’s Field Office Director and staff members, tour the office, and learn more about immigration topics.
To RSVP for this event and get the address, log onto Symplicity. If attending, be sure to bring photo identification and plan to arrive at least 15 minutes early to allow time to complete the security process.

Spring Work-Study Position Available!
Compassionate Families is seeking to fill a work-study position for the spring semester. Under general supervision, the selected candidate will provide telephone referrals or written information and referrals, grief recovery information, and assistance as needed to rebuild the lives of survivors of homicide victims.
The selected candidate will be expected to work on TUESDAYS AND THURSDAYS a minimum of 12 hours per week in segments of no less than 4 hours. Eligible students will be paid $10.00 an hour through the Federal Work Study Program and will work through May 17, 2013. Students cannot exceed 20 hours per week or work beyond the May 17, 2013 end date. Volunteer for Citizenship Day!
FCSL is hosting it’s Annual Citizenship Day on Saturday, April 13th. Planning has already begun for this wonderful event and we are looking for volunteers to help with various activities leading up to the event and throughout the day of the event. Students may be needed to assist the Skills class with one-on-one interviews of clients, as well as trainings.
On the day of the event there will be a morning and an afternoon shift, or you are free to volunteer all day. A volunteers’ meeting will be held closer to the event to assign tasks and walk through the running of the event. If you are interested in volunteering in any capacity please let us know. Paid Employment Law Summer Internship
The Florida National Employment Lawyers Association (NELA) Fellowship is a great opportunity for 1L’s and 2L’s who are interested in employment law to secure a PAID ($4,000) summer internship gaining experience with a law firm representing individual employees in cases involving employment discrimination, employee benefits, illegal workplace harassment and retaliation, and other employment related matters. New York State Senate Fellowships
The New York State Senate has openings for various fellowships in Albany New York beginning September 12, 2013 through July 16, 2014. All Senate fellowships include an award of a $33,000 Grant-in-Study Stipend. There are approximately 16 spots open and the application deadline is April 22, 2013. Under the supervision of a professor, you will have the opportunity to manage your own cases, interact with clients, draft legal pleadings, and conduct hearings advocating for your clients. What a great way to practice being a lawyer!!
