It Takes a Village… Person.

Some people find a calling In the Navy, others Go West in search of fortune, and still others find all they need at the YMCA. But perhaps no one has had as much success with that particular trifecta as Victor Willis, the original lead singer of the Village People.

Now, the man often known simply as the Motorcycle Cop has been given the green light to reclaim his copyright interests in those songs and others (at least in the U.S.). The Guardian (U.K.) has summed it up best with the headline - Village People’s policeman lays down the law on his right to royalties.

The Agony and the Ecstasy!!

Guts and Glory; or Blood, Sweat, and Tears? With sports, it always depends on if your side is winning or losing, or the level of violence involved. This is the perfect weekend to experience the highs and lows of organized sports; there is something for everyone! Some of the options are the Stanley Cup playoffs (Go Canucks!!), UFC, and the Roller Derby

If you are not into the agony and ecstasy of organized sports, maybe you want to check out all things Turkish at the Turkish Festival, or visit the Tour de Farm event, which showcases Northeast Florida farmers, free food, and more.

Whatever you choose to do, make sure you enjoy the penultimate weekend before finals.

Don’t say there’s nothing to do this weekend; check out these events!

As always, there are a lot of happenings going on around Jacksonville this weekend. How about heading out to the beach for the 22nd Annual George’s Music Springing the Blues Festival at Jax Beach. Make sure you check the schedule, so you don’t miss your favorite artist. Musicians will be playing all weekend, starting Friday night and ending Sunday evening. There is also a Running the Blues 5k on Saturday at 9:30am; race day registration is allowed. If visual art is more to your liking, then try the MOCA Jacksonville’s ArtFusion Sundays To Dye For event.  Finally, enjoy arts and crafts and plenty of exhibits and music in Orange Park at the third annual Art & About: Neighborhood Art and Music Event on Saturday.

Spring has sprung!

It’s Easter weekend.  If you like egg hunts, what could be more Florida than an underwater egg hunt?  I didn’t even know they had those, but there are a couple (plus some other, more traditional activities).

Eggs and bunnies not your thing?  Try the Mandarin Arts Festival!

No?  Okay, then stick to the basics – go to the beach or stay in the Library and study.  (I would pick the Library!)

Rock, Paper, Scissors decides case!

If you are ever in a stalemate with opposing counsel, you can try to break it the way United States District Judge Gregory A. Presnell did when he ordered the two attorneys to settle their differences with a game of Rock, Paper, Scissors.  You can read more about Avista Management v. Wausau Underwriters Insurance and other humorous legal cases on Gavel2Gavel.com

Things to do this weekend.

Need a stress-buster this weekend? Try the fourth annual MuckRuckus (f/k/a the Mud Run). Either 5k or 10k, your $60.00 entry fee will benefit the Multiple Sclerosis Society. Check here for more information: Multiple Sclerosis Society MuckRuckus

If you would rather forget your troubles from a sitting position, go see the Peking Acrobats Saturday at the Thrasher-Horne Center. Tickets are as low as $15.00.

If you prefer music, the 23rd Annual Great Atlantic Music Festival is on this Saturday.
