Finals Finally Finished! Here’s What’s Going on May 11-13

Of course, the library hours will change, so be sure to check before coming in.

All weekend –

  • Local Bluegrass band Grandpa’s Cough Medicine is playing Friday night at Fly’s Tie Irish Pub in Atlantic Beach at 10 pm. They’ll also play Saturday with Fusebox Funk at Mojo Kitchen in Jacksonville Beach at 10 pm.
  • With headliners Erykah Badu and Doug E. Fresh (I think I just dated myself), Funk Fest looks to be an exciting place to be this weekend! Tickets are $65 for both Friday and Saturday, at Metropolitan Park at 6 pm on Friday and 5 pm Saturday.
  • Theatre your thing? After Ashley, a dark comedy produced by the Atlantic Beach Experimental Theatre, is at the Adele Grage Cultural Center Friday and Saturday nights at 8 through the end of the month. $15 cash or check only.

Weekend Fun!

As a former law school student, I know that law school can take up most of your time, but you still need to take a break from ‘hitting the books.’  In addition to the numerous restaurants, bars, and dance clubs located in Jacksonville, Jacksonville and the surrounding areas have special events happening every week.  Maybe you like the circus, theatre, or symphony, or maybe you have always been a horse lover, if so, then Jacksonville has an event that you might be interested in this weekend.  Additionally, with just a short drive down I-95 to Saint Augustine, you can see the Saint Augustine Film Festival hosted by Flagler College–Saturday night’s special guest is Pamela Poitier, daughter of Sidney Poitier.  Now that you are ‘in the know,’ make sure you don’t miss out on the fun!
