Latest Coastal Law Magazine now available

Coastal Law Magazine, now in its sixth issue, released its Fall 2011 publication, which focuses on international law through the works of the Coastal community. The cover story, “Who Exactly is a Pirate?“, is written by Associate Professor of Lawyering Process James J. Woodruff II and searches the seven seas for an international answer to define a pirate.

The magazine, which publishes twice a year, can be found on campus or be requested from the Alumni Relations office (if you aren’t on the mailing list). In addition, you can read the entire magazine online, or view a downloadable PDF and digital book on Issuu.

Coastal Law photos surpass 80,000 views

In just over a month, the official Coastal Law photo galleries, located on Flickr, amassed more than 20,000 views, upping the stream’s total to more than 80,000.

Most recently, we have uploaded the images from the 2011 Pro Bono reception. So head on over and check out everything we’ve captured in the last year or so. And, as always, feel free to download and/or share any image.

Bringing Financial Aid to you

Financial Aid poster

One of the most important departments for any student is financial aid. Having a full understanding of the financial aid process, and what is available to students, is something the department stresses.

Recently, the Marketing & Communications Department finished an update to the Financial Aid Handbook, adding another page for more detailed information. To view the updated handbook, click here.

In addition, the financial aid department will be hosting a few sessions in the atrium where it sets up shop and answers any questions a student may have. The department requested a display poster for the events, at size 24 x 36, to be printed on a foam core backing — attached is the final version created in-house by the Coastal Law Marketing & Communications Department.

2011 Justice Raymond Ehrlich Award

Promotion and marketing for the Raymond Ehrlich Award begins very early as different departments within the school, including the Student Bar Association, work together to put on this special event.

News stories, calendar listings and signup pages all exist on the main Coastal Law website and are distributed to outside constituents via social media communities and e-mail alerts.

As for the event itself, Coastal Law called upon another local photographer, Evan Hampton to snap pictures of the event, which can be found on the school’s official Flickr page. In addition, a video testimonial devoted to this year’s recipient, Buddy Schulz, was developed by a collaborative effort between Institutional Advancement and Information Technology. The video can be found here.

The 2011 State Fair

The state fair is a regional informational fair in which our students can learn about legal communities across the country and network with our faculty who have attended school or worked in the areas represented.

This year’s state fair, held last Thursday in the Atrium, featured discussions about different areas of the country along with a favorite dessert of that region. In preparation for the event, the Career Services team submitted a ‘save the date’ plasma request, as well as a calendar entry on the website.

For the event itself, the Marketing & Communications team designed 15 posters in house to display the regions. The posters were printed on 11 x 17 foam core with a laminate finish. Each posted features a different image of the school (both inside and out).

Pictures were also taken during the event and can be found on the school’s Facebook page here.

Coastal Law photos reach 50,000 views

Over the weekend, the photos on Coastal Law’s Flickr profile eclipsed the 50,000 views mark. We started putting the pictures online in April and have been very pleased with the reception they have received. In all, 3,281 photos have been posted, ranging from different graduations to an SBA talent show.

If you arrange for a photographer to be at your event and would like to have your photos posted, please contact the marketing department.

Recent sets include two from the 2010 Winter Graduation and an alumni social in Atlanta.
