Special Note to 1Ls

Pursuant to National Association for Law Placement (NALP) standards and Florida Coastal School of Law policy, first semester students have restricted access to the CSD until after November 1 (or April 1 for spring admits) and they may not contact employers regarding employment opportunities until after December 1 (or May 1 for spring admits) of their first year. This rule is designed to permit students to focus the first three months of law school solely on their studies and adjustment to law school.

First semester students may attend all panels and presentations hosted by the CSD. However, first-year students may not schedule individual counseling appointments with CSD Counselors until after November 1 (or April 1 for spring admits), participate in any career fairs that have an application deadline before November 1 (or April 1 for spring admits), or access Symplicity, the CSD's on-line career resource center, until after November 1 (or April 1 for spring admits).

During the first week of November (or April for spring admits), the CSD will hold an Orientation to Career Services for all incoming 1Ls to welcome and introduce them to our team and the services we offer. In the middle of November the CSD hosts The Starting Line for all 1Ls featuring networking opportunities with over 60 attorneys representing legal careers in the following areas: academic, alternative careers, corporate/in-house, government/public interest, judiciary, and law firms.  View our 2010 Starting Line program.

***Attention First Semester 1Ls: Please note that you must complete the CSD 1L Orientation on Desire2Learn prior to making an appointment with our office.***
