The Reverse Shadow Program will afford 25 junior and senior Duval County high school students the opportunity to shadow Florida Coastal law students for the day, interact with faculty, attend classes, learn about the process of preparing for a legal education, and observe part of a mock trial. It will be held on March 25, 2010 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
The high school students will be drawn from disadvantaged and diverse backgrounds. Each high school student will be paired with a volunteer Coastal Law student mentor. The high school students will also attend presentations put on by student group leaders, faculty, and other staff.
Coastal Law student volunteers are needed to participate as greeters at a morning reception, to give campus tours, and to serve as mentors who will be shadowed to one class by a high school student. Participating Coastal Law student volunteers will not need to miss class or participate in the entire day's events. Participants will be needed for one to two hour time periods. This is a great opportunity to give back to the local community and to extend a hand to the underserved within our community. The application for the program can be downloaded here
