Mock Trial teams make strong showings

Continuing a streak of strong performances, the Coastal Law Mock Trial Team placed second at the Chester Bedell Mock Trial Competition in Orlando last week. This tournament pits all of the Florida law schools against each other.
The team of Matt Roepstorff, Carrie Stiefel, Brooke Fuller and Chris Warren defeated Nova, and FSU (twice) before narrowly losing to University of Florida in the finals. They were coached by Coastal graduates Lindsay Tygart and Fraz Ahmed and faculty advisor, Annette Ritter.
In other recent Mock Trial news, for the first time in Coastal Law history, a team from the school finished in first place at a competition earlier this month. The Coastal Law Black Law Student Association team competed in the Southern Region of the Thurgood Marshall Mock Trial Competition in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
The Southern Region was the largest of all the regional competitions. It consisted of 20 teams including: University of Florida, Duke Law School, University of North Carolina and the University of Alabama. The Florida Coastal BLSA team competed in two preliminary rounds, the quarterfinals, semifinals and finals; resulting in a first place win. The team will travel to Boston to compete for the National Title in March of this year.  The BLSA Mock Trial Champion team includes Adrianne Irish, Clarence Sydnor, Ruby Green and Jaimee McDowell along with coach Professor Lois Ragsdale, and faculty advisor Professor Annette Ritter.
