| What is your favorite Coastal memory? | Having meaningful conversations with so many bright young folks. At my age it was a fun to attend classes with students the age of my children and learn from them. |
| What is your proudest professional moment? | Winning a due process case. Most decisions in Florida are for school districts, and most cases are settled before going to trial. The legal standard is “an education reasonably calculated to provide some educational benefit” and the burden of proof is on the parents even though the Districts possess all of the evidence. It can be tough to show that the District has not met the standard with a child who is severely disabled. |
| What advice do you have for someone considering law school? | Do not compare yourself to others, remain helpful to your classmates, and try to enjoy the process.. |
| What is on your bookshelf? | I try to read a book a week. This last month I have read Mountains Beyond Mountains, Tracy Kidder, Three Cups of Tea: One Man’s Mission to Promote Peace–One School at a Time, Greg Mortenson and I just started Neuro Tribes: The Legacy of Autism and the Future of Neurodiversity, Steve Silberman. |
