SKADDEN AND EQUAL JUSTICE FELLOW
Full-time – 2 year position Salary: $54k – $60k Legal Services of Greater Miami, Inc. seeks to sponsor candidates for the upcoming Equal Justice Works and Skadden Fellowship application process. Legal Services is looking for candidates, with a strong commitment to public service, who have creative project proposals which address a compelling and unmet community need. Possible fellowship topic areas could include, but are not limited to: Legal Services is committed to achieving equal justice and eradicating the barriers to economic and social stability created by poverty and injustice. Founded in 1966, Legal Services provides the full range of civil legal services with a focus on housing, consumer, community development, income, health, tax, and education issues. Special projects provide services to meet the unique legal needs of special populations including immigrants, veterans, older adults, disabled individuals, people experiencing homeless, formerly incarcerated individuals, people living with HIV/AIDS, transgender individuals, and low-income taxpayers. In the past decade, Legal Services has hosted several Equal Justice Works Fellows and Skadden Fellows. Recent successful fellowships involved mobile home park advocacy, the Neighborhood Entrepreneurs Project, enforcing tenants’ rights in Liberty City, advocating for veterans, and working with homeless families at Lotus House.
